MEOW!!! How Cats Still Rule the World ?
Final Book
Final Book
Overview
In an age where Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly reshaping our world, this project offers a humorous counter-narrative, a pop-up book that playfully argues that cats, not AI, remain the true overlords of humankind. Through a combination of witty storytelling, tactile paper engineering, and whimsical illustrations, the book highlights the absurdity of modern tech obsession by placing feline superiority at the center of a handcrafted analog experience.
Design Object
To merge storytelling and physical interaction to critique AI worship through humor.
To reintroduce tactility and play into publication design in an era dominated by screens.
To showcase the potential of paper engineering as a narrative medium.
Structure & Visual Language
The illustrations are intentionally vibrant and expressive, borrowing from both retro comic aesthetics and modern meme culture. Cats are drawn with smug expressions, exaggerated poses, and a tongue-in-cheek air of superiority.
Cover spread

Couple of spreads from the book

Each spread employs paper engineering techniques such as:
Layered pop-ups
Pull-tabs and rotating wheels
Accordion folds for motion
Peek-a-boo flaps for surprise reveals
Cutout prints

Outcome
The final piece is a limited-edition hand-bound book, crafted with precision and playful intent. It has been exhibited as part of a satirical commentary on design futures and has sparked conversations about who really runs the show—our tech, or our tabby?
Reflection
This project reminded me that while AI may generate, automate, and predict, cats don’t care. And maybe that’s a kind of wisdom worth documenting.

This project is in loving memory of coogiie! ❤️
